Environment

PRE is one of the modern companies aware of its responsibility to the environment and endeavours to constantly improve the conditions for its protection.

In 1993 independent specialised firms conducted an environmental audit aimed at determining old environmental burdens. Based on the audit results, the company removed these old environmental burdens by its own means during the period of 1993-2003.

As part of environmental policy, measures required in order to prevent the rise of any new environmental problems are continuously adopted. This mostly concerns replacement of old oil transformers for hermetically sealed ones or oil-free, so-called dry containers. This reduces the risk of contamination of surface and underground waters in case of an accident to a minimum.

At the start of the 1990s the company began with extensive removal of equipment and PCB condensers and it must be stated that these condensers were removed from used equipment. In accordance with the Execution Regulation, the sampling of transformer oil containers takes place to show absence of PCB in transformer oils. No equipment tested up till now has shown the presence of PCB.

A functional system for dangerous waste and communal waste sorting has been created at company workplaces.
