  • Prague residents have contributed to the new photo-voltaic power plant

    PRAGUE (29. 6. 2006) – A small photo-voltaic power plant will appear in Prague 10 thanks to the residents of Prague and nearby Roztoky, who consume ecological electricity produced from renewable sources. Since 2004 Pražská energetika, a.s, (PRE) has been collecting money from a ten-heller surcharge per kilowatt hour (kWh) of the special PREKO tariff for ecologically minded citizens.

  • PRE will pay out over 800 million in dividents

    Pražská energetika, a. s. (PRE) will pay out a total of MCZK 843.5 for 2005 to its shareholders. This decision was approved by the PRE General Meeting today. The shareholders also agreed with gifts for 2007 to be donated to healthcare, education and children’s care totalling MCZK 30 million.

  • Electricity meters when moving without any problems

    Are you moving within the capital city of Prague and have problems with this? Prague power engineers try to make it easier for households to at least sort out one of the problems of moving. Hence Pražská energetika, a. s., (PRE) has introduced a trial service of the so-called correspondence transfer of an electricity meter for moving families.

  • Impostors strike again by offering door-to-door discounts on electricity

    PRAGUE (28. 3.2006) – Cheap electricity is again being offered to unsuspecting Prague residents by impostors posing as employees of Pražská energetika, a. s., (PRE). However the company is not calling at the apartments or houses of Prague residents to offer them any electricity price discounts.

  • New terminal will consume the hourly output of Temelín a month

    Electricity consumption rose by 40 percent of the Prague Ruzyně Airport since the opening of its Terminal 2 SEVER in mid January of this year. The new terminal will consume as much electricity in a month as a million refrigerators in one day. With the increasing number of checked in people and further development, consumption will continue to rise according to the estimates of the company that operates the airport - Letiště Praha, s. p.

  • Record profit for PRE

    Historically Pražská energetika, a.s. (PRE) created the highest net profit of MCZK 1,245 million in 2005 according to the hitherto non-audited data. Its net profit increased by 24% and receipts by 10% in comparison with last year. Likewise, power engineers invested more than CZK 176 million more than in 2004. Hence PRE thereby confirmed that it holds an important place on the European energy market.

  • Higher elektricity consumption during the frosts did not restrict supplies in Prague

    The record frosts of January increased electricity consumption in Prague and Roztoky by a tenth. This figure increased to as much as 25% for households using electricity heaters. Although power engineers in many places in Russia, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal, Albania and France had to restrict electricity supplies due to the great fall in temperatures, Prague did not suffer any lack of energy.

  • Power utility announced contest for renewable sources subsidies

    PRAGUE (6 February 2006) – On its web pages Pražská energetika, a. s. (PRE) published a call to submit requests for granting subsidies for projects dealing with construction or reconstruction of renewable electricity sources in the entire Czech Republic. Approximately quarter of a million Czech crowns has been already accumulated on a special account, which is since 2004 contributed with 10-heller surcharge to the special PREKO tariff by customers, who use ecological electricity. At the end of March the expert commission will decide which projects shall finally obtain this financial support.

  • Power utility will allocate subsidies for renewable sources

    PRAGUE (11 January 2006) – This year Pražská energetika, a. s. (PRE) will support some of the Czech projects for construction of renewable electricity sources. Approximately quarter of a million Czech crowns has been already accumulated on a special account, which is since 2004 contributed with 10-heller surcharge to the special PREKO tariff by customers, who use ecological electricity. Only during the last year there were 251 new customers who applied for consumption of the so-called green electricity.
