Prague residents have contributed to the new photo-voltaic power plant
PRAGUE (29. 6. 2006) – A small photo-voltaic power plant will appear in Prague 10 thanks to the residents of Prague and nearby Roztoky, who consume ecological electricity produced from renewable sources. Since 2004 Pražská energetika, a.s, (PRE) has been collecting money from a ten-heller surcharge per kilowatt hour (kWh) of the special PREKO tariff for ecologically minded citizens.
PREKO product consumers, among who are Prague families, have contributed more than 131 thousand crowns in two years to the development of renewable sources of energy from the surcharge of the ecological tariff. Pražská energetika increased this sum by a further contribution of 100 thousand crowns. A commission consisting of PRE representatives and independent experts from the companies Ekowatt and SEVEn chose from three projects which the authors entered in the grant proceedings for the collected funds. “Although wind, water and biomass as well as solar radiation are part of renewable sources of energy, all submitted projects planned the construction of a solar power plant. So it was technical and economic parameters, output and integration into the location that proved decisive. The commission finally chose the small photo-voltaic power plant as being the most appropriate with an output of 2.28 kW in Prague 10 – Záběhlice,” stated PRE press spokesman Petr Holubec. The project will gain 195 thousand crowns, i.e. approx. 50 % of the investment costs. In order to avoid the misuse of funds, PRE will pay out a grant up until the realisation of the project provided it will be implemented within two years.
PRE deferred the forty thousand crowns which remain on the PREKO tariff account after the first grant round, to the next period. A new tender will be called once enough funds are collected on the already mentioned account.
It is not difficult ordering PREKO
