The Prague power company workers have opened a new telephone line for reporting breakdowns in electricity supply
Would you like to report a breakdown in your electricity supply? Call the new telephone line 1236 which was opened in mid September by the Prague power company. This easy to remember line for reporting faults is open 24 hours.
The new telephone number 1236 can be used by people in the Capital City of Prague and in the town of Roztoky to report faults in the power grid. Customers can find out information here for any planned power cut, about the progress of the renewal of electricity supply, they can report faults on electricity meters or for example file an application for connection of short-term consumption. The original number 224 915 151 is still operating together with the new line and the emergency line 224 919 473 (in case of an emergency, threat to the life) remains without change. The new four-digit telephone number is provided by the Czech Telecommunication Office and is intended solely for medical, emergency and other units of the rescue system. Other service utilities in Prague have similar numbers for reporting faults to their networks.
"Our subsidiary, PREdistribuce, which is responsible for the operation, development and renovation of the energy grid, chose number 1236 because it can be intuitively found on the telephone dial even in the dark in the event of an unexpected electricity breakdown. In addition, the number is easy to remember which is important" said PRE press spokesman Petr Holubec. The original number looked like a normal telephone number for an apartment or some institution. "Today the energy grid in the city is of a very high level so our workers get to hear of a larger scale fault immediately when it occurs via the information system. They often get called out sooner than the first customer affected by the breakdown makes his call," concluded Holubec.
